Aligned with the organization’s vision and strategy, the Dean of academics is responsible and accountable for the academics in all aspects. The Dean of academics provides academic leadership to the faculty and provides the structure for optimal management of academic operations, teaching and learning, library resourcing, academic and administrative support to students and the coordination of work-integrated learning. The dean is responsible for managing faculty, programme reviews, learning materials and new programme development. The dean’s portfolio includes the promotion of integrated quality assurance, academic governance and the implementation of policies and procedures for compliance.

Educational Requirements:
Doctorate preferred.
4-5 years at senior academic level in higher education
2-3 years of high-level academic management experience
Proven teaching and research portfolio with curriculum development and assessment design experience
Experience in dealing with regulatory affairs and academic quality assurance processes within a higher education environment

Key responsibilities:
Academic leadership and quality assurance of programmes
Overall quality assurance of programmes, learning materials and courses
Strategic planning, budgeting and allocation of resources for programme development, review, study guide updates and prescribed and recommended readings
Management of module content updates and study material and collaborates with the online unit to digitize materials in Moodle LMS
Management and quality assurance of academic operations, assessment system, teaching and learning and MIS
New programme design, development and accreditation
Lead process and evaluation of existing portfolio programmes with the Head of departments and propose the development of new qualifications and courses
Academic governance, committees, calendars, policies and procedures
Represent faculty on Senate and sub-committees
Chair academic board
Work integrated learning monitoring, coordination and academic support for students
Responsible for WIL policy and practices and ensuring compliance with CHE
Integration of Work-based learning/work placing learning ( WPL), Project-based learning ( PJBL), Problem-based learning ) PBL and Work Directed theoretical learning (WDTL)
Faculty academic staffing, approvals, development and scholarship
