The Registrar plays a crucial role in managing academic records and ensuring compliance with higher education regulations. Responsibilities include overseeing the entire student life cycle, maintaining the integrity of academic records, and managing data submissions to regulatory bodies. The Registrar also supports institutional research and policy development while ensuring the accuracy of certifications and compliance with data protection laws. Key Responsibilities:
Manage student certifications, academic records, and transcripts
Ensure compliance with higher education regulations
Oversee data uploads to the National Learners’ Records Database (NLRD)
Provide legal and policy advice on education governance
Lead academic data management and digitization processes
Collaborate with senior leadership on strategic initiatives
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration or related field (Doctorate preferred)
Minimum of 7 years of experience in higher education administration
Strong knowledge of South African higher education regulations
Experience in managing academic records and ensuring data protection compliance
