Seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to support the design, execution and successful delivery of mechanical engineering projects across South Africa and the African continent.
This is a hands-on role combining mechanical design, project engineering, fault-finding, client engagement and on-site project support. The successful candidate will be involved in projects from initial planning and design through to installation, commissioning and final handover.
The role is suited to a committed and driven Mechanical Engineer looking for a long-term opportunity within a growing engineering environment. Experience working with industrial rotating equipment, including gearboxes, turbines and blowers, will be highly advantageous.
Minimum Requirements:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering
3 - 5 years’ experience as a mechanical engineering and/or project engineering specific to rotating equipment
Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Inventor – essential
Experience supporting or managing mechanical projects from design through to commissioning
Confident communicating directly with clients, contractors and senior stakeholders
Strong analytical, troubleshooting and root-cause analysis abilities
Experience with rotating equipment such as industrial gearboxes, turbines or blowers highly advantageous
Willing and able to travel nationally and across Africa for approximately four to six weeks per project
Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary project team
Valid driver’s licence and own reliable vehicle
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with mechanical engineering design and the development of practical technical solutions
Produce and review mechanical drawings using Autodesk Inventor
Support the planning and execution of projects from inception through to installation and commissioning
Conduct fault-finding, technical investigations and root-cause analysis
Monitor project progress, technical requirements, quality standards and deadlines
Prepare technical reports, project documentation, progress updates and client feedback
Participate in quality assurance and ensure compliance with relevant project standards
Support research and development initiatives and identify opportunities for system optimisation
Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers and internal project teams
Develop and maintain strong, long-term client relationships
Represent the business professionally during site visits and project assignments across Africa
