A well-established South African business funding and commercial finance organisation is looking for an Intermediate IT Infrastructure Engineer to manage, maintain, and continuously improve its technology infrastructure environment. The organisation provides flexible funding and working capital solutions to SMEs and mid-sized businesses across South Africa and operates within a highly regulated financial services environment where security, stability, availability, and compliance are critica
Minimum Requirements:
National Diploma (NQF Level 6) or equivalent qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Network Engineering, or a related field
Relevant Microsoft, networking, cloud, security, or ITIL certifications advantageous
3–5 years' practical experience in IT infrastructure support, systems administration, network support, or a similar technical role
Experience within fintech, financial services, lending, credit, payments, or another regulated environment preferred
Strong experience supporting Microsoft-based business environments
Experience administering and supporting Windows Server environments
Experience supporting Windows 11 endpoints, provisioning, configuration, patching, and lifecycle management
Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, identity and access management
Experience managing user accounts, permissions, onboarding, and offboarding processes
Experience supporting Microsoft 365 administration, licensing coordination, and access management
Strong networking knowledge including VPNs, firewalls, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, and network troubleshooting
Experience administering cloud-hosted virtual machines and related infrastructure services
Experience with infrastructure monitoring, incident management, backup monitoring, and disaster recovery testing
Experience supporting SQL Server and Power BI infrastructure dependencies
Ability to create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and change-control records
Experience working with business users, managed service providers, technology partners, and senior stakeholders
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, planning, communication, and organisational skills
Comfortable operating within a small IT team where broad ownership and changing priorities are common
Advantageous:
Experience with INKY, Mimecast, Defender for Office 365, or similar email security platforms
PowerShell scripting and automation experience
Experience supporting audits, cyber insurance requirements, compliance reviews, or funder requests
Familiarity with POPIA and practical information security controls

Duties and Responsibilities:
Infrastructure Operations and Cloud Hosting
Administer cloud-hosted virtual servers and related infrastructure components
Monitor server availability, performance, storage, operating system health, and critical services
Perform server maintenance, patching, service restarts, and infrastructure lifecycle activities
Support infrastructure capacity planning and resilience improvements
Identify and implement practical service optimisation opportunities
Maintain accurate records of server roles, configurations, dependencies, and support procedures
Network, VPN and Connectivity
Maintain and troubleshoot VPN connectivity between office and cloud environments
Support routing, firewall management, DNS, DHCP, switching, network access, and remote connectivity
Investigate and resolve connectivity issues affecting users, servers, business systems, and third-party services
Maintain network diagrams, firewall documentation, and connectivity runbooks
Microsoft Server, Endpoint and Identity Support
Support Windows Server, Windows 11, Active Directory, and Group Policy environments
Manage user accounts, permissions, groups, and shared resources
Perform secure onboarding and offboarding activities
Support endpoint provisioning, troubleshooting, patch compliance, and device lifecycle management
Maintain endpoint security controls including antivirus, EDR, encryption, and administrator controls
Microsoft 365, Email and Vendor Services
Coordinate with external providers managing Microsoft licensing, Exchange, and email security platforms
Administer Microsoft 365 users, permissions, shared mailboxes, and distribution lists
Investigate email delivery issues, phishing attempts, spoofing incidents, spam, and suspicious communications
Manage and escalate vendor support tickets through to resolution
SQL Server, Power BI and Business Systems Support
Monitor SQL Server infrastructure health, storage, backups, and supporting services
Coordinate SQL Server patching and maintenance activities
Support business system availability and infrastructure incident resolution
Assist with licensing management and connectivity troubleshooting where required
Security, Backup, Monitoring and Business Continuity
Apply least-privilege access principles and support multi-factor authentication controls
Monitor backups, investigate failures, coordinate restore testing, and maintain recovery procedures
Support infrastructure monitoring, alert management, incident response, and root-cause investigations
Assist with audit requirements, security reviews, cyber insurance requests, and POPIA-aligned controls
Governance, Documentation and Stakeholder Engagement
Maintain infrastructure documentation, support procedures, runbooks, change records, and escalation paths
Participate in change planning, maintenance activities, risk assessments, and post-incident reviews
Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Recommend practical infrastructure improvements that enhance security, stability, and operational efficiency
Work closely with internal business units, executives, technology partners, auditors, and service providers to ensure reliable technology operations and service delivery
