An international flavour manufacturer establishing a new production facility in South Africa. Initially focused on flavour concentrates for the vape and e-liquid market, the business is expanding into FMCG flavour development, including cosmetic applications and other consumer products. The South African facility will become the group's primary manufacturing operation.
The Analytical Chemist will be responsible for supporting all aspects of product formulation and manufacturing. This is a hands-on role involving the mixing and compounding of flavour concentrates, quality control, preparation of Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and ensuring products meet company and regulatory standards.
This position includes practical factory work and manual handling as part of the manufacturing process.
Minimum Requirements:
Degree or Diploma in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry or related scientific field.
1 – 3 years’ experience within a chemical, flavour, food manufacturing or similar production environment.
Experience with chemical mixing and compounding processes.
Knowledge of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical compliance.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Comfortable working within both a laboratory and factory environment.
Physically capable of undertaking manual production duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare and compound flavour formulations according to established recipes.
Mix raw materials and chemical compounds accurately and safely.
Produce and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
Perform quality control testing on raw materials and finished products.
Maintain accurate laboratory and production records.
Ensure compliance with health, safety and chemical handling procedures.
Monitor product consistency and manufacturing quality.
Assist with production scale-up and new product development.
Maintain laboratory equipment and production work areas.
Support continuous improvement within the manufacturing process.
