A Bistro with a strong presence in both food production and dining experiences is looking for a highly skilled Executive Chef / Restaurant Operations Manager to revitalise and lead their 50-seater bistro-style restaurant in a prime residential area. The venue aims to serve top-quality breakfasts, fresh pastries, light lunches, and refined dinners in a relaxed, open-veranda setting. Open 365 days a year, the restaurant strives to deliver consistent quality and exceptional service across all meal periods. This is a hands-on leadership role, responsible for reimagining the kitchen layout, designing a contemporary menu, implementing efficient systems, and uplifting both back-of-house and front-of-house operations. The successful candidate will combine culinary expertise with operational management skills to create an outstanding guest experience and ensure the restaurant becomes a sought-after local destination

Minimum Requirements:
Formal culinary qualification
Minimum 5–7 years’ experience as Head Chef or Executive Chef, ideally in bistro/café or small-plate dining environments
Proven experience in kitchen design, menu creation, and cost control
Strong operational management skills, including staff training and development (front and back of house)
Ability to deliver high-quality breakfast, lunch, and dinner service, as well as fresh pastries, at a premium standard
Understanding of contemporary food trends and presentation styles
Excellent leadership, communication, and customer engagement skills
Strong organisational and time management abilities
Willingness to be hands-on across all aspects of the restaurant’s operations
Preferably already based in Zimbabwe or willing to relocate (single status preferred)
Valid work permit or eligibility to work in Zimbabwe (if not a citizen)

Duties and Responsibilities:
Redesign and optimise the kitchen layout to support the planned menu and service style
Develop, cost, and implement a fresh, seasonal menu aligned with the restaurant’s vision
Prepare and oversee production of high-quality breakfasts, pastries, light lunches, and dinners
Source and manage supplier relationships to ensure best quality and value
Implement and maintain kitchen and service systems to ensure consistency, efficiency, and hygiene compliance
Recruit, train, and manage kitchen and front-of-house staff, ensuring professional service standards
Monitor food cost percentages and control wastage
Engage with guests, promoting daily specials and enhancing customer satisfaction
Work with owners to develop marketing ideas and initiatives to increase footfall
Maintain health, safety, and hygiene standards in accordance with local regulations
Oversee daily operations, including stock control, ordering, and budget management
Ensure smooth coordination between kitchen and service teams to deliver exceptional dining experiences
Manage scheduling and operations to support a 365-day service calendar
