We are assisting our client, an internet provider in a quiet town in Limpopo, in finding a High Site Manager to oversee their network infrastructure. This role is pivotal in ensuring uninterrupted internet services for the community. The High Site Manager plays a crucial role in the construction, installation, and maintenance of communications towers, fibre networks, and support structures.
The ideal candidate will have adequate knowledge of network hardware like Mikrotik, Ubiquiti, Mimosa, and Yealink, successful completion of Working at Heights and Tower Rescue Training and have the physical fitness to climb towers via ladders, carry equipment (up to 20kg), no fear of heights, ability to work in various environmental conditions, including winds, rain, snow, and extreme heat.
Minimum Requirements:
2 to 4 years of industry experience.
Up-to-date medical certificate meeting requirements.
Successful completion of Working at Heights and Tower Rescue Training.
Familiarity with hazards associated with tower climbing, construction equipment, and working on or near energized lines and equipment.
Physical fitness to climb towers via ladders, carry equipment (up to 20kg), no fear of heights, ability to work in various environmental conditions, including winds, rain, snow, and extreme heat.
Valid driver's license (experience in 4x4 driving is advantageous).
Technical Skills:
Understanding of electricity (AC/DC).
Understanding of solar energy.
Understanding of power and battery equipment.
Basic network and RF principles and troubleshooting.
Adequate knowledge of network hardware like MikroTik, Ubiquiti, Mimosa, and Yealink (VOIP understanding).
Adequate knowledge of routing and RF protocols.
Basic knowledge of cable and trunking techniques.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assisting in the construction, installation, and maintenance of communications towers, fiber networks, and support structures.
Meeting project deadlines and promptly responding to network tower outages and fiber network breaks.
Climbing and working on communications towers for installing, replacing, and repairing antenna systems/equipment and general tower maintenance.
Accurately following instructions as per the work schedule (ticket/job card).
Identifying safety hazards and performing duties in a safe manner.
Working with and maintaining basic hand tools and mechanical equipment.
Extensive travel, sometimes at short notice.
Undertaking any ad hoc tasks as required by the manager.
